Permaculture
Making a positive impact
Permaculture is a blend of the two words "permanent" and "agriculture", and was founded in 1971 by Bill Mollison. Farmers have always been well aware of different ways of growing crop, and farming techniques. Mollison made farming a design, mostly with the use of biological methods, and technologies, machines when appropriate.
Permaculture is based on three ethical principles:
- Care for People
- Care for the Earth
- Return of surplus
To care for people is to create possibilities for everyone, to meet the needs, the basics like water and food. When caring for the earth, we care for everything on it, the soil, the air, the plants, animals, ourselves. Return of surplus is not in the normal economic way, it's about taking all leftover recourses, and make something out of it, e.g. making compost of food scrapes and leaves from trees. In a bigger picture the food not used can be returned to society, to people in need.
Permaculture is about evolution, development, and the use of resources in best possible ways. It is in a way coaching of the Earth. We help the Earth do what it does, but much faster.
We can help you in cases like this:
Permaculture in action
Convert a small garden
Provide help to small garden owners to convert the garden to a fruit forest, the goal for permaculture. In small gardens it's possible to grow at least 150 different food crops, and as plants support each other, the use of water and recourses decreases. A garden round 200 m2 can provide half the amount of food (mostly vegetables and fruits) for a family of 2-3 persons.
Commercial farming
We can help you to apply Permaculture principles on your farm.
That could for instance be systems to produce soil, use animals for that purpose, be less water dependant, fertilize the soil without commercial fertilizers.
Urban farming
Help to start a small scale farming in the city, in between houses, on rooftops etc.
Create a community of people in the neighbourhood and start from there.
Convert Swimming pool
We can help you convert a "normal" swimming pool, where chlorine is used, to a natural pool, where you can drink the water (if you like). With a natural pool, you have a big water resource.
Off Grid
Let us help you get your house and you off grid. Finding solutions for water harvesting, electricity producing, food supply. All with the use of Permaculture design.
